Women are at the heart of Uganda’s families, communities and economy. Yet many women and girls continue to face barriers to education, employment, entrepreneurship, access to finance, healthcare, technology, leadership opportunities and equal participation in decision-making.
At United Africa for Trade Rights & Economic Growth (UATREG), we believe that empowering women is not only a matter of equality and human rights - it is essential for sustainable economic growth, social development and a stronger Africa.
Our Women Empowerment Programme in Uganda is designed to support women, particularly those from underserved and vulnerable communities, by creating opportunities for them to develop skills, build livelihoods, access resources and participate meaningfully in community and economic development.
We envision a Uganda where every woman and girl has the opportunity to learn, work, lead, innovate and participate fully in society—regardless of her economic or social background.
An empowered woman can strengthen her household. Empowered households can strengthen communities. Empowered communities can contribute to a more inclusive, prosperous and sustainable Uganda.
Women’s empowerment requires collective action. UATREG welcomes partnerships with government institutions, civil society organizations, businesses, development agencies, community leaders and individuals who share our commitment to advancing women's economic and social empowerment.
